Learn about the newest standard for outdoor weathering for transportation materials and what this means for you.
ASTM D7869 is the newest outdoor weathering standard for transportation materials. The standard represents over 10 years of work by automotive OEMs, global coatings suppliers and weathering test equipment manufacturers. It is one of the most thoroughly researched and documented standards ever written.
Sean Fowler with Q-Lab Corporation's technical presentation will look at:
- How the outdoor service environment was defined
- The development of a new optical filter
- The rationale for the specific test cycle described in the standard
- Defining the minimum amount of water that must be delivered to the specimens
- Why specimen repositioning is required in all testers running the standard
