On February 9th, join the CCAI Wisconsin Chapter for an informative presentation on Innovations in Compliant Cleaning, Descaling, and Pretreatment Solutions for Variable Substrate Quality presented by Dr. David Chalk with DuBois Chemicals.
About Dr. Chalk:
Dr. David B. Chalk, Principal Research Chemist at DuBois Chemicals, holds B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in chemistry from the University of Cincinnati. In his 31 year industrial career he has researched steel making and coating practice, corrosion mechanisms, surface science, and novel chemical pretreatment applications. Current areas of interest include improving performance of zirconium pretreatments, research in organic pretreatments, refinement of strong acid de-scaling pretreatments, innovative approaches for stripping paint for rework, and development of practical field-based surface analytical methods.
What Dr. Chalk will cover:
In his typical entertaining fashion he explains through research that with more than 95% of world steel production now sourced outside the US, heavy organic contamination, scale, surface carbon and iron fines on incoming work are commonly encountered in today’s finishing shops. In this meeting he will cover innovative and very effective applications of cleaning packages, unique acid mixtures, polymers and traditional approaches that are environmentally compliant and energy efficient are described. We’ll also have some time to cover some innovative approaches to stripping paint for rework as well.
