DUTIES:
-This position is a Technical Service Specialist
-Reports to the Technical Director
-The Technical Service Specialist is responsible for all technical support activities related to the production, sale and distribution of stearate and lubricant products
-Provide technical and field sales support, including travel as required, to sales and marketing for special plastic additives
-Interface with customers, sales and customer service to ensure that customer requirements are understood, documented in the company's Quality Systems and met in regard to specifications and applications.
-Support the application development of functional products for targeted markets.
-Coordinate and conduct field trials of functional additives.
-Attend trade shows and technical conferences as required.
-Provide technical consultation to Company's USA production in regard to identifying, controlling and monitoring the critical quality attributes of products produced special plastic additives
-Provide consultation to Company's USA purchasing and production in the evaluation and approval of critical raw materials for special plastic additives
-Coordinate activities with counterparts in sister companies globally

REQUIREMENTS:
-A degree in Chemical or Polymer Engineering, Polymer Chemistry or closely related field.
-4-6 years of experience in polyolefin product development, extrusion or compounding.
-Strong problem solving skills.
-Good written and oral communication skills and attentiveness to detail.
-Good interpersonal skills.
-High mechanical aptitude.
-Computer proficiency related to spreadsheet, database, word processing and email.
-Knowledge of Quality Systems and Assurance programs, SPC and SQC.
-Knowledge of chemical laboratory practices and procedures.
-A desire to progress into higher management in the company.

Fabrication Coordinator - AFR Chilton

Positions Supervised: 
Directly supervise one Chilton employee in Prototype New Product and repair of existing Carts / Hooks.

Position Summary

Working with VP Operations plan and supervise the building of Prototype Products to support Customer Requirements. Communicate with Application Engineers, develop CAD drawings to support and develop Bill of Materials to support detailed specifications. Communicate /Order product from Key Suppliers. Repair existing carts/hooks as needed.  


Essential Functions

Key communication link between AFR Customer Base, Application Engineer’s, Prototype Completion and Coordinating with Key Suppliers.

Able to design and draw complete drawing package using 3D Modeling program  such as Auto DESK Inventor and Solid Works. This includes:

Weld Symbols

Key Dimensions / Tolerances

Significant Quality Requirements

Provide Prototype and Production Quotes
·        
Purchasing responsibilities include materials for prototypes, MRO items to support area and production orders form key suppliers. This includes negotiations and order placement.

Must posses excellent interpersonal and technical skills when communicating with AFR Application Engineers

Working knowledge of TCM or other ERP Software
·        
Technically understand metal working and industry welding standards. Understand different performance levels of steel and raw materials.

Maintain D1.1 AWS Welding Certificate

Ensure employees meet AFR Handbook standards and procedures

Education and Experience

Maintenance Leader  - AFR Chilton / Eldridge

Position Responsibility:  Maintain AFR Facilities and Equipment Primary at Chilton and support Eldridge / Shelbyville Operations.

Position Summary

Working with VP Operations this position is responsible for keeping all equipment and the building in an attractive and safe condition, while keeping the cost of labor, material and outside services under budget. Additionally the position is responsible for a Preventative Maintenance System and ISO 14001 Compliance.

Essential Functions

Have superior knowledge of all plant operations
·        
Keep all equipment and building in a safe working condition.
·        
Keep the cost of maintenance labor, materials and outside services under budgeted levels.
·        
Ensures all equipment is operating within our environmental (air & water) regulations. Support ISO14001 program at AFR.

Keep up with the latest technology that will help run the plants in a more efficient manner.
·        
Continually initiate cost savings project ideas.
·        
Maintain a preventative maintenance program and all the records.
·        
Assist in training and motivating employees to maintain a safe operation and keep all areas up to AFR’s housekeeping standards.

Assist in decisions regarding property, plant and equipment and keep Management informed of these decisions.
·        
Plan and purchase for maintenance.
·        
Continue to develop ones skills by going to seminars, schooling, reading books, etc.

Work with outside contactors and obtain bids for outsourced work.

Experience with controllers and programming  

Education and Experience 
An Associates Degree in maintenance Mechanics and 3 -5 years or relevant experience.
Or
10+ years of demonstrated plant Preventative Maintenance experience at the strategic and execution levels.

The Maintenance Leader must possess strong leadership and organizational skills.  This position is responsible for the maintenance of all equipment in the plant. There are no direct reports to this position.

Position Title:    Sr. Plating Engineer 
The Sr. Plating Engineer is a critical member of the simultaneous engineering teams and is responsible for all aspects of the plating development phase from concept to transfer. The Sr. Plating Engineer is responsible to ensure all Key Metrics are measured and met. Including Product and Process Verification through Qualification, Time to Market, Quality, and all Financial Metrics.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Develop new plating methods and techniques for applying metallic finishes to terminals, contacts and shells to improve product performance while reducing processing and material costs.
2. Provides technical assistance to development engineering by recommending finishing material, thickness, location on product and application of material or combination of materials
3. Assists Quality Engineering in identifying and taking appropriate corrective action on customer complaints with respect to coating failures.
4. Responsible for developing new plating methods and techniques, designing new plating equipment, determining processing parameters, developing analytical procedures, recommending cost improvements, and all other related assignments
5. Because of sound technical ability, this individual will be a leader and will work with minimal supervision on assignments that are complex in nature and scope.
6. Applies the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of Plating Engineering, including exposure to manufacturing technologies such as stamping, molding, assembly and machine application.
7. The majority of A&D products are screw machined contacts and machined shells, because of this the individual should have an extensive back ground in Rack and Barrel plating technologies.
8. Potentially work with Product Development Engineers in England, France and US.
9. Create manufacturing plans for new product designs
10. Arrange for production of prototype samples
11. Manage the transfer of the production process to the long term manufacturing site (US, Mexico and India)
12. Track project performance metrics such as actual manufacturing costs, tooling efficiencies and quality measures
13. Resolve problems as needed to address customer needs
14. Lead manufacturing process improvements and innovations using new technologies

Qualifications:

1. BS degree in Chemical Engineering preferred
2. Green Belt or Black Belt in Six Sigma process preferred but not required.
3. Minimum of 10 years experience in a Plating Manufacturing field.
4. Good working knowledge and experience with connector manufacturing processes (stamping, molding, die cast, screw machining, plating and assembly)
5. Working to specifications with in the Aerospace and Defense requirements would be a plus.
6. Demonstrate ability to organize and prioritize
7. Strong interpersonal & negotiating skills
8. Excellent oral and written communication skills demonstrated by the ability to communicate across all levels within and outside of the organization including customers
9. Strong analytical skills and attention to details
10. PC proficient, including Excel, Word, MS Project, Power Point, and MRP systems
11. US Citizenship or Permanent Residence (due to ITAR regulations)

Position Description:
We have an immediate need for a recognized expert in the field of coatings for water heater industries and motor industries.  The successful candidate will have experience with the following:

  • Ability to develop new coatings or collaborate with suppliers to develop coatings to address technical need.
  • Experienced in coatings for water heater industries and motor industries.
  • Familiar with advantages and disadvantages of commercial coatings in powder coatings, liquid solvent based coatings, water reducible coatings, inorganic ceramic coatings, etc.
  • Experienced in all aspects of above coating specification and testing including: NSF, UL, corrosion, etc...
  • Has understanding of technical problems relating coating specification to coatings application properties.
  • Familiar with all practical issues relating to coating application in the manufacturing environment, including coating storage and delivery methods.
  • Knowledge of coating handling and safety considerations.

The Requirements:
An advanced technical degree (Ph.D. preferred) in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Material Science, and at least three years experience in a development environment is required. Candidates must exhibit excellent writing skills and the ability to communicate complex chemical concepts in easy to understand language. Must also be highly motivated and able to work independently.

Paint Engineer
Job Description:

·
   Lead resource for cleaning, finishing and painting within the company. This includes liquid painting, powder,
    military coatings, UV and IR curing, automatic and manual systems, etc.

·
  Assist in the evaluation, justification and installation of new finishing technologies throughout the company.
·
  Support the North American plants with troubleshooting and improvement of production processes. Provide
    informational support to overseas operations. Communicate successful ideas to other Donaldson plants.

·
  Work with paint and equipment vendors to provide quality improvements and cost reductions.
·
  Provide finishing information to Sales and Engineering staff to meet customer requirements.
·
  Work with Quality Assurance staff to resolve customer complaints and product issues.
·
  Maintain Paint records including the paint code index.
·
  Works directly with Sales, Marketing, DCI Manufacturing Plants and Customers to ensure that all paint
    requirements are met.  

·
   Process all necessary NPR’s, NSPR’s, ECP/ECO’s in accordance with DCI policies and procedures.
·
   Develop paint specifications and ensure all documentation is preserved in accordance with internal
    document control systems. 

·
   Work extensively with assigned DCI Manufacturing Plants .  Travel to assigned DCI Manufacturing Plants
     will be required.    

·
   Perform Margin Improvement work activity to support both Departmental goals and Donaldson Company,
     Inc.’s overall cost control strategies.

Qualifications:

·
  BS degree in Engineering or related field.
·
  Minimum of 3-5 years of industry experience with powder and liquid paint systems.
·
  Considerable experience withpaint equipment (liquid and powder).
·
  Paint testing background for quality assurance required.
·
  Packaging background also desirable.
·
  Excellent problem solving skills
·
  Considerable knowledge with state and federal guidelines for paint.
·
  Previous experience with vendor selection and paint specifications
·
