West Michigan Chemical Coaters International is pleased to welcome three nationally known guest speakers for the Annual Bob Warren Seminar.  Attendees will learn how to conserve water in pretreatment, all about powder coating, and also the correct methodology for identifying and keeping track of defects in our finished products.

Presenters:
Kevin Lockwood from Paint Performance Consulting will tell us all how to do Paint Defect Analysis. Kevin began his career as a Chemical Technician at BASF Corporation. He became an Analytical Chemist working with resins and coatings. In 1985 he was one of the founding members of the BASF Dirt Team at automotive assembly plants, tier 1 & 2 part plants. In 2001 Kevin started Paint Performance Consulting Company. Kevin has done paint defect analysis and training at hundreds of automotive, aerospace and furniture industries. He will help us set up our own “dirt teams”.

Joseph R. Smith, Surface Finishing Specialist for Quaker Houghton Surface Finishing division will discuss low cost zero effluent discharge set up and operation of paint pre=treatment spray washers. A common problem facing manufactures using metal and surfacing finishing conversion coating processes today is the need to consider the expense and effluent discharge liabilities of the process water. A proven approach combining innovative chemistry with related equipment to allow users to eliminate all process water discharge from their spray washers. This process has enable users to eliminate waste water permitting, notice of effluent violations, and all related cost associated with excessive water usage.  The process integrates high quality performance, simplicity of operation, and minimal operational cost.  Two case studies including both powder paint and ecoat applications will be discussed. Joseph has a degree in Chemistry from Illinois State University. We will learn how to conserve water.
