In today’s demanding market, one of the challenges has been to improve corrosion resistance, especially regarding edge coverage. There have been a number of solutions developed to address this issue, the most recent has been to apply 2 coats of powder, with the first coat being gelled before applying the second coat. This solution requires additional capital equipment and has some pros and cons. However, more recently has been the development of a dry-on-dry powder solution. This solution has been accomplished through unique powder formulation and powder application techniques.

Our first speaker, Tabitha McLeish from Akzo Nobel Powder Coatings will discuss their approach to this new technology. Tabitha will present background information leading to this new development as well as information on the types of results one could expect, including the pros and cons about this new technology.

Our second speaker, Joe Schroeder from Nordson Corporation, will present information on powder delivery equipment currently available for this new powder technology. Joe will explain the two types of electrostatic charging methods possible for this application, corona and tribo-charging, including the pros and cons of both technologies.

These will be very informative presentations regarding new and currently available technology that provides improved corrosion protection.
