CCAI/IFCA Finishing Education Foundation Awards 2026 Student Scholarships
Tuesday, July 7, 2026
The CCAI/IFCA Finishing Education Foundation announces this year’s scholarship recipients. Since 1992, the Matt Heuertz Scholarship Program has provided financial awards to students enrolled in programs that could lead to a career in industrial finishing and coating. Applications from qualified students were reviewed by the Finishing Education Foundation Board of Directors, who determined this year’s scholarship winners.
A total of $20,500 in scholarships was awarded to twelve deserving students. "We are especially excited that this year's recipients represent a wide range of educational pathways, reflecting the many opportunities available to those pursuing careers in the finishing industry," said Sheila LaMothe, Foundation executive director. "It's particularly rewarding to see the highest scholarship award presented to a community college student, underscoring the vital role these institutions play in developing our future workforce. We are also excited to recognize a recipient who is already employed in the finishing industry and is continuing his education to expand his knowledge and impact. These students and professionals embody the dedication, curiosity, and commitment to growth that will help drive our industry forward."
In addition to cash awards sent to the student’s school account, each scholarship recipient receives a one-year student membership in CCAI/IFCA, which allows them to gain significant exposure to the industry and benefit from the multitude of resources available through the
association and its regional chapters across the country.
Jacob Keunzi, of Chemeketa Community College, was selected as the recipient of the Jim Gallagher Award, granted to the highest scoring applicant. Jacob shared, “I am humbled by your generosity in supporting me through the 2026 Jim Gallagher Award. A man like Jim is who I strive to be, giving and working hard to bless others and strengthen the future of the manufacturing and finishing industry.”
Nelson Gomez, Rasmussen University, received the Bob Warren Award, which is generously supported by CCAI/IFCA Corporate Member Sames. “I am incredibly honored and grateful to be selected as the recipient of the 2026 Matt Heuertz Scholarship Bob Warren Award through the CCAI/IFCA Finishing Education Foundation,” stated Nelson. “I currently work as lead operator in the paint department at a manufacturing facility and receiving an award connected to someone as respected and dedicated to the finishing industry as Bob Warren means a great deal to me, especially knowing the values and commitment he brought to the industry throughout his career.”
